The guitar features the sought-after X-1 pickups which have a great sound. The guitar is form the Dan Smith era at Fender when they laid the groundwork for the Fender American Standard of today. This guitar has some distinct features for this time period including the jack socket being flush to the guitar, two control knobs only, one master volume, one master tone, a unique bridge and top-loading strings. The guitar does not come with the tremolo bar but can be found from time to time. The guitar has a great history and has been around the world several times. It was owned by a former close security guard to the stars who would bring this to every gig backstage. Many famous musicians could not resist opening the case and have a play on the guitar. Incredibly players such as George Harrison, Noel Gallagher, Gary Moore, blues legend Albert Collins, Andrew Eldritch of Sisters of Mercy and many more. The case has been adorned with backstage passes from concerts such as Blur at the NEC Birmingham, Sisters of Mercy, Elbow, The Secret Affair, Spandau Ballet as well as interesting vintage Gibson, Boss, Rolling Stones, Sisters of Mercy, Gun Control and Sunn Studios stickers. The guitar has a wonderful maple neck that is very comfortable to play. It has a nut width of approx 4.2cm / 1.6535433″, the thickness of the neck at the 1st fret is 1.9cm / 0.7480315″ and 2cm / 0.787402″ at the 12th fret. It has a C shape neck contour with 10″ neck radius. It has 0.3cm / 0.0787402″ wide frets and are 0.2cm 0.11811″ deep. This Stratocaster weighs approx 3.765KG. This guitar does not have the original tremolo arm but can be found from time to time. The guitar has a fantastic Ivory finish which looks very classy with the maple beck. The maple neck is wonderful to play. The guitar has some dings and scratches as you would expect from such a playable and storied guitar such as this, The most notable being a ding on the front of the body below the bridge, a couple of small dings above the pickguard, the fretboard as some veneer coming off the fretboard that does not affect playability, and some small dings on the side, but this just gives the guitar rock ‘n’ roll character and vintage mojo. The case is missing a hinge on one end but it is still functional. A real collector’s guitar from a transitional time in Fender’s history with an amazing history.
